Erectile dysfunction (ED) often pairs with coronary artery disease. Both stem from similar risks like endothelial issues and inflammation. The frontal QRS-T angle measures heart electrical changes on ECG. Wide fQRSTa signals poor outcomes. No one checked if ED plus wide fQRSTa worsens CAD severity. A study published in the Anatolian Journal of Cardiology evaluates this link in men undergoing angiography.
Study Setup in Real Patients
Researchers followed 236 men for first-time coronary angiography due to CAD suspicion. They used IIEF-5 score ≤21 for ED and fQRSTa cutoff of 52.5°. Groups split by ED status and fQRSTa width. CAD severity came from Gensini and SYNTAX scores. Stats included regression and correlations to spot predictors.
Striking Results on Severity
ED hit 62.7% of patients. Those with ED and high fQRSTa had lowest ejection fraction. They topped Gensini and SYNTAX scores (all P < .001). Adjusted regression showed ED alone (β = 11.927, P = .009, 95% CI: 2.014-21.839) raised Gensini scores. High fQRSTa added (β = 9.906, P = .012, 95% CI: 2.710-22.523). Their combo boosted it more (β = 17.233, P = .028, 95% CI: 1.906-32.560). SYNTAX scores followed suit. IIEF-5 inversely tied to fQRSTa (r = −0.436, P < .001).
Clinical Edge for Cardiologists
ED and wide fQRSTa each predict bad CAD. Together, they flag high-risk cases with severe blockages. Screen for ED in CAD workups. Add fQRSTa to ECG reads. This duo spots trouble early.

Key highlights
- ED prevalence reached 62.7% in 236 men undergoing first coronary angiography for suspected CAD.
- Patients with both ED and high fQRSTa (>52.5°) showed highest Gensini and SYNTAX scores (P < .001).
- ED independently predicts higher Gensini scores (β = 11.927, P = .009).
- High fQRSTa independently raises Gensini scores (β = 9.906, P = .012).
- ED and high fQRSTa interact synergistically for worse CAD (β = 17.233, P = .028).

Short Description
New study links erectile dysfunction (ED) and widened frontal QRS-T angle (fQRSTa) to severe coronary artery disease in 236 men. Their combo strongly predicts high Gensini and SYNTAX scores.
