A recent study in Clinical Epidemiology and Global Health determined the importance of personalized treatment strategies in improving weight outcomes and glycemic control for managing type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).
The study aimed to investigate the impact of various antihyperglycemic medications on weight fluctuations in patients with T2DM.
A total of 410 participants were included in the study. A prospective cohort study was done in patients with T2DM. Based on the study criteria, 392 were included, and 18 members were excluded from the study.
A significant association has been found between Metformin 500 mg and Voglibose 0.2 mg, as well as with GRBS Levels, while Metformin 500 mg was also found to be associated with weight loss. In the case of Glimepiride 1mg & Glimepiride 2 mg, a slight increase in weight was observed. The study reported a sligh weight loss with sitagliptin 100 mg, voglibose 0.2 mg, teneligliptin 20 mg, and vildagliptin 50 mg.
