In a large Indian study, a specially designed tapered stent, the BioMime Morph sirolimus-eluting stent, has shown promising long-term results for patients with long coronary lesions. The study, conducted across multiple centers and published in AsiaIntervention, followed real-world patients over three years.
The trial enrolled 448 individuals with long, tapered coronary artery lesions, out of which 420 completed the full follow-up. These patients received the BioMime Morph stent as part of their percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Researchers monitored them for both safety and efficacy outcomes.
At the 12-month mark, 99.31% of patients had not experienced target lesion failure. This success rate remained high at 98.80% even after three years. Only a handful of cases were reported for target vessel myocardial infarction or revascularisation (0.95% each). In imaging studies taken about nine months in, late lumen loss was minimal, and there was a significant improvement in the minimal diameter of the artery post-stenting.
